Mouse freezes when starting almost any program

May 4, 2018
Hello guys!

I've recently bought a notebook with Windows 10, a 1050 GTX TI graphic card and an i5 processor. Windows 10 runs from a 128GB SSD and I've got a 1TB HDD as well.

Since one week, whenever I start an application such as Chrome or Evernote, or even expand the side-bar, the notebook freezes 2-3 seconds before the application really starts. This problem does not appear with Windows Word for example.

I called the seller of the notebook and he told me it is probably a driver problem. Then, I did all the updates that were available and installed all drivers from the disc he gave me. No improvements. Then I ran the Windows Update Repair tool that I downloaded from the internet, ran a scan with Malwarebytes and optimized the computer with Ashampoo Winoptimizer.

Do you have any ideas what the problem could be?

Thank you in advance. If you need further specs, just tell me. Sorry for any grammar mistakes in advance!

Hello yannik-koenecke

Can you please try this:

> Type CMD in the Cortana search box.

> Right-click Command Prompt from the Best match list.

> Click Run as administrator.

> Type CHKDSK C: /R in the command window and press Enter.

> When it prompts you to confirm if you want to schedule the scan at next restart, type Y and press Enter.

> Close the Command Prompt window.

> Restart Windows and wait while it scans your C:\ drive for any errors, and repairs if it finds any.

> Try using Windows again.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. He didn't find a problem. I already did a couple of other checks provided by this Reset Windows Update Tool you can see below.

"Microsoft Windows 10 [Version: 10.0.17134.1]
Reset Windows Update Tool.

This tool reset the Windows Update Components.

1. Opens the system protection.
2. Resets the Windows Update Components.
3. Deletes the temporary files in Windows.
4. Opens the Internet Explorer options.
5. Runs Chkdsk on the Windows partition.
6. Runs the System File Checker tool.
7. Scans the image for component store corruption.
8. Checks whether the image has been flagged as corrupted.
9. Performs repair operations automatically.
10. Cleans up the superseded components.
11. Deletes any incorrect registry values.
12. Repairs/Resets Winsock settings.
13. Searches Windows updates.
14. Explores other local solutions.
15. Explores other online solutions.
16. Downloads the Diagnostic Tools.
17. Restarts your PC."

Any other guesses? I've installed a driver checker already and ran through every devide in the devide manager and tried to update it manually.

Also, the brightness buttons on my keyboard do not work (FN +F8/F9), maybe it's caused by the same problem?

PLUS, Youtube videos freeze after a while so that I must reload the page.
