Mouse moving on its own

Today I brought a new wireless mouse and keyboard. I have plugged in the USB dongle into the computer and my keyboard works fine! However, when I out the batteries in my mouse and turn it over, the mouse starts moving on its own. It keeps making a square shape! I don't know what to do as I don't want to bring it back as I love the keyboard! Can anyone help???

I'd like to note that the mouse pad on my laptop works completely fine without it!
