I have a Gigabyte M7 Force mouse and a Steelseries QCK mouse-pad. It had been working fine for a long time, but recently it has started playing up. For example, the mouse moves smoothly across the pad but the cursor stutters, moves very slowly and sometimes doesn't even move. When I remove the mouse-pad and use the mouse on my desk, it works perfectly fine. Any suggestions as to why this is happening, because I really dislike using my mouse on the desk.

Your mouse has selectable DPI. It's possible that at some DPI settings it can not track the surface of your mouse pad accurately. I would start by testing each DPI setting available on the mouse to see what works best on your mouse pad.

Also, over time, mouse pad surfaces change. Surfaces that are not cloth tend to develop a glaze-like surface, which may seem insignificant to you, but alters the visible surface to the sensor beneath the mouse.
