I have a windows 7 that was working fine with an infrared usb mouse for many years until recently when the left button was getting intermittent when dragging in excel so only because of that I decided to buy a new one to replace it
So I bought a similar one with a Vander life brand I am not sure if this is a good brand or not but I figured it should function normally
So it worked fine for a few months than one day when I boot up and I am looking at the desktop the mouse pointer is in the center but when I move the mouse the pointer does not move the keyboard which is also usb type works as I used Alt+F4 to shut it down and restart and after that it works without doing anything else
This happens every few weeks or so for no apparent reason so I was wondering what would cause this to happen
Today it happened again but I tried rebooting it 3 times but it would still stay frozen after booting
So while it was running I unplugged the mouse and plugged in an old usb roller ball mouse and the pointer was moving with that so I switched back to the Vander life mouse and now that one is working too so I am not sure what to make of it
Is this a bad mouse or just a weird glitch ?
One thing I noticed which may or may not be a clue is that when this happens the red led on the bottom is vibrating rapidly when I lift the mouse off the pad which normally is steady when the mouse works
When this happens the led vibrates all the time during the boot sequence so I know already that it's not going to work even before I see the desktop
Any ideas ?
