Mouse pointer moving for no reason

I just got a Utechsmart Venus mouse and every time I lift it off the mouse pad (even the tiniest bit), the arrow instantly transports itself to the far right edge of the screen. Does anyone know how to make the arrow stay in relatively the same place when the mouse is lifted up a little? Thanks!

If yours has 12 buttons on the left side of the mouse, then we have the same mouse. I have had mine for about 9 months now, and it does not move the mouse pointer when I lift the mouse up off of the mouse pad. I think I would contact Amazon for a replacement. I got mine there too.
