Does anyone else have mouse problems matching up any mouse with a SOYO
motherboard?

Here's the details on my system:

Bought 4/6/04 for $50

Case: Mid Tower ATX (3-5.25", 3-3.5" bays) w/ 250W P.S. (ATX-2500)
Motherboard: Soyo SY-V6BE+ (Slot 1, 1 AGP, 2 USB, 4 PCI, 3 ISA)
CPU: Intel Pentium III-MMX 500MHz
Memory: 384 MB PC-100 Dimms (Cubig 256 + 128)
Monitor: None
Hard Drive: 8.4 GB Maxtor (88400D8; IDE; 0.4GB bad sectors)
2.1 GB Maxtor (82100A4; IDE)
CD-ROM: BTC 48x (BCD-48SB Internal IDE)
Video Card: ATI Rage 128 (PCI)
CD-RW Drive: Memorex CD-RW4224 (Internal IDE)
DVD-ROM Drive: None
Sound Card: Opti 82c931 (ISA)
Modem: Unknown 56k Internal (PCI)
Network Card: Netgear FA311 (PCI)
Floppy Drive: 1.44MB
Keyboard: Unknown
Mouse: None

Items of my own I added to it:
Mouse: iConcepts (Sakar.com) 4D Wheel Scroll (PS/2, Item #77252)
Mouse: Mouse Systems (Serial, Part #403917-005)

The serial mouse cursor does not move at all, while the PS/2 mouse only
moves vertically (tried both individually). How can I fix that? Windows
didn't make it work from the beginning, and even downloading the latest
drivers does not remedy the problem.

try running your machine with a minimal hardware configuration...
ie: remove the modem, sound card and net card
then see if you can get your mouse working.
if you can get it to work...now start adding components to see where the
problem is...sometimes, switching around to different pci slots can help...
also check the bios settings for your pci slots...some boards have options
to change the parameters
