Looking for ideas to get a new mouse, no games, just productivity tools.
Currently using G400S and previously MX518 a few of them, so I had the same mouse for a long time. Time to change.

What I need:
  • wired!
  • 2 side buttons
  • 2 buttons on top + mouse wheel (I use for Ctrl+Home and Ctrl+end to jump top of the page and bottom of the page)
  • handle usage of 16h per day (and not break my wrist or cause pain)
More important is precise mouse wheel, because this one is just not that precise... it skips 1, 2 or even 3 scrolls before it makes a move. Annoying.

What I don't need:
  • RGB (perhaps discreet rgb, but definitely not like SteelSeries Aerox 3)
  • no extra buttons (perhaps 1 unused, but definitely not like Logitech G600)
Budget: any.

Any ideas?

Hey there,

I know you said you don't want wireless, but, most wireless mice can be used with cable too.

What about the Corsair Harpoon RGB wireless. It's kinda understated even though some RGB, has solid build quality, with a good weight (from the internal battery). Up to 10k DPI, and variable poll rates up to 1000mhz. It fits your criteria (apart from fully wired)

It's a budget gamer mouse, but very good for the price.

I have it wired when playing, but can take my lappie with me and having the option to detach cable is very nice. Haven't noticed any real difference in terms of response/scrolling etc either wired or not.

It's pretty decent all round. Just a suggestion.

Thanks, but from the picture it doesn't seem to have 2 extra programmable buttons... just the wheel and 1 extra button. I need 2 extra buttons (not one on the wheel):

Well, after a couple of days using it I must say I do like it. I didn't know cables come in fabric, and it's really cool, you don't hear it dragging on the desk and no annoying sounds touching monitor's stand, like when plastic cable rubs against it. I had to lower the dpi to 1000, I guess 20K max is overkill for sure. The buttons are good, the top ones are in a little different position than G400S, but I almost got used to them. (I use them about 10x more than side buttons (back and forward).
It's a little lower mouse, so the hand is not resting on it as much as on G400S, but also not a deal breaker, I think I got used to it.
RGB is pretty subtle, I can select color and brightness, so I set it exactly to my liking.
The mouse wheel works, it moves exactly as it scrolls and is quiet, so cool.
The left, right buttons are curved a bit, so the fingers rest, fit on them pretty good.

I'm actually pretty impressed, and now writing this I see that it actually has all the things I like! Wow, I thought I will have to go through 10 samples before I settle on the right one.
