Hi!
I have a minor problem with Single-Clicking & wonder if anybody here can throw any light on it.
I am using Ubuntu 14.04.1 with Unity desktop on an ACER Aspire TC-100-007 PC & the supplied (simple) Acer Mouse.
My problem is no doubt triggered by a long habit of using right-handed mouse with my left hand (long story but I don't want to stop now...).
This means left clicks are made with my non-prefered left middle finger & are therefore a bit slow.
For years, this just meant I had to set the double-click speed to slowish & everything was OK.
Recently however, Single-clicking has started to throw up problems.
Many items (things which can be dragged around, for instance, like Ubuntu Launcher Tiles or Window Menus) fail to react to a "normal" click. They start to react as to a Drag-&-drop action then abort.
If I make a real attempt to click-&-release rapidly, then everything is OK.
I estimate my normal click duration at 1 or 2 tenths of a second, but how to tell?
Some backgroup details:
I started noticing the new behaviour after I had bought the new PC (with new mouse) & then upgraded Ubuntu from 13:10 to 14.04.1, so I am not absolutely sure which change brought the problem.
But I tried my trusty old MS mouse on the new PC & that has the same problems (which it never showed before).
I have Windows 8.1 on the same PC & that has no problems, but then it handles things differently.
If I click a W8 tile & hold it for even several seconds, it will then open the item on mouse-up if I have not dragged the tile to a new location.
So click duration seems to be critical for Ubuntu but not for W8.
So - I have a couple of questions:
1. Is there an industry standard for separating click-&-release from click-&-hold timing?
2. Is there any site or method I can use to measure the duration of my single-click?
Thanks for any suggestions!
