Moved router upstairs, won't connect to modem through cat6

I've been trying to move my router from the basement to the main floor, connecting it through a length of cat 6 routed upstairs.

When I do this the router doesn't seem to connecting properly, wifi and ethernet both won't work connected to the router, however if I plug the router into the modem with the original cable back down stairs (6 inch cable, so no routing that one), it works fine.

I've put a ethernet switch where the router would be moved, and connected the router to the switch and switch to PC, and there's no issue with connection.

So I don't believe it's the cable, modem, or the router?

Any help would be appreciated

That cable is your problem. The wires in flat cable are too small. Get a round, all-copper, cat5e cable and I believe everything will work.
