I have a SSD C: drive in a Dell Tower with windows 10 . Went to move the SSD C: into a better HP tower that I have and when i boot, the HP would not detect the drive.

Is there something I need to do to prepare for this move to the HP tower will accept the drive? susggestions appreciated.

Moving the OS drive from a Dell to an HP?

That is unlikely to work.

Think about what is on that HDD out of the Dell: motherboard drivers, disk drivers, DRAM drivers, etc.

And in your HP you will have a different motherboard and probably disks (other than this one), and different DRAM.

Yes, a fresh install is called for and that's why.
