[SOLVED] Moving Components From Dell System to ATX case

Hi,

Im trying to move away from DELL proprietary hardware to a standard ATX system, would it be feasible to move the motherboard from a DELL Optiplex 5040 into an ATX Mid-tower case, im aware that dell uses different standards and I think that I will have to purchase a 24 to 8 pin adapter (Not sure if this is correct), the main reason I want to move the motherboard is to save on budget as the CPU is fairly decent that comes with the Dell system.

the dell itself wouldnt sell for anything the CPU is the only thing of value which id love to hold on to

You'll be rebuilding everything anyway.
New case
New PSU
New motherboard

Keep the RAM, CPU, and drives.


Trying to merge the Dell parts into an ATX case will be problematic and expensive.
