Moving data out of full partition doesn't free any space

Along with a couple of IDE drives I have a WD2500-JD SATA drive on a
SATA PCI card I use for mass data storage. One of the 4 partitions on the
SATA drive is close to full, and under both WindowXP SP2 Disk Manager and
Windows Explorer showed the Capacity as 78.1 GB with 77.9GB used and 177MB
free. I moved a bit over 2 Gig of data to another partition to free some
headspace, but the properties didn't change and no additional space has been
freed. I've run Norton Disk Doctor on the partition set to fix errors, and
did several restarts but still the same full partition even though all the
data I moved out shows in the other partition (on the same hard-drive) and
doesn't show in the full partition. I'm at a loss as to how I can remove 2
gig out of a partition without gaining any free space (I've even deleted
Norton Protected Files from my Waste-Basket, and nothing at all is in my
Waste Basket). I guess I'll try burning data onto a DVD and deleting the
data to see if any space frees.

Norton's undelete is basically keeping what you are deleting.

Forget where Nortons actually keeps it, but thats the problem.

Dont think it will.
