The posting community on this site just keeps going downhill. Mozilla can whine all they want, doesn't change the fact that the only truly successful tablet maker does so with a closed off OS, and Microsoft has every right to attack Apple's dominant position using a similar approach.

Doesn't Mozilla have more important things to do like finally figuring out you don't need a separate search box in a browser in 2012, or how to get a bigger bribe out of Google for setting them as the default search engine?

Firefox for Android SUCKS compared to the default browser. I very much doubt that they would put much effort into developing a decent Firefox for WRT even if they were allowed to use the Win32 API s

[citation][nom]ddpruitt[/nom]I think most people don't understand what this means. Essentially Microsoft has enabled parental controls for everything but it's own software. It's like using a computer but your only allowed to access a small subset of what it can do, think solitaire, kiddie educational software, and the like. Sure you can use the computer but it won't be useful. Same thing MS is doing to 3rd party software vendors.Microsoft has probably realized that they are no longer the dominant software maker in the world. They don't have control over the market anymore so they are making a last desperate attempt to recapture lost glory.[/citation]

What it means is that software has to be selfcontained, no more leaving stuff behind when uninstalling, no more filling up the average users browser with tens of different kinds of search tools. Besides, don't like it, don't buy it. Dominating market share has nothing to do with ARM / tablets, unlike Mozilla thinks.

Typical microsoft BS! I switched 100% to linux few years ago and I couldn't be happier. Thank god.. I don't have to deal with this disgusting company.

[citation][nom]damianrobertjones[/nom]So... what browsers can you use on the iPad?[/citation]

Safari or safari. Why go to a different browser when you're using Apple's, not YOUR, iPad?

[citation][nom]classzero[/nom]Funny I use opera browser, your claim is not valid! I can also use firefox, chrome, opera, on OS X. Again your . . . um . . . false, wrong, not informed, wishful thinking.[/citation]

He didn't say anything about the browser. He said Apple introduced the closed system which is completely true. What I think he means is that Apple can decide not to allow programs. There is a long history of a closed environment within Apple PC's that jobs has argued is to promote stability and a proper user experience.

this really bothers me since now people have to buy competeting ARM pc's smartphones and tablets to be able to use a windows system. and arm is so much more power efficient and cheap.
