Discussion MS now officially allowing unsupported computers to upgrade to Windows 11 with caveats?

Nothing new. It's been like this since Win11 was released since day 1.

People always find ways to run OS that's not supported by whatever vendors for years. Like Windows XP/Vista/Win7 still run by millions of people.

This page is very cryptic, but it appears you can upgrade unsupported PCs to Windows 11 through some portal in the PC Health Check app.
Yes, if anyone install W11 on an officially unsupported PC via the PC Health App, do please give some details. Rufus and registry edit methods have been around for some time, but this seems to be the first time that Microsoft app itself allows you to do this.

This:

"When Windows 11 is installed on a device that doesn't meet the minimum system requirements, a watermark is added to the Windows 11 desktop. Notification might also be displayed in Settings to advise that the requirements aren't met."

My understanding is that Microsoft is simply providing visible notice(s) when a host system does not meet the required hardware specifications.

Not that Microsoft is "officially supporting" doing or otherwise recommending any such installs - whether the install works, partially works, or does not work at all.

End users seeing the watermark may call into question the installed OS and/or the build itself.

Caveat Emptor.
