mSATA SSD with OS?

I'm not very tech savvy, and I ordered a laptop that should arrive soon. I'm considering a mSATA upgrade, as the laptop only has an 750GB HDD, which should have Windows 8 or 8.1, and I was wondering whether I need to buy another copy of Windows just to boot my OS from the mSATA SSD, or if I could change it from the BIOS settings.

You already know this laptop has a mSata slot? Okay. U should be able to clone the OS from HD to SDD and tell it to boot from the SSD. 32G is VERY TIGHT. Is gonna hold the OS and not much else.
