Question MSConfig says I have 2 cores instead of 8

I have a Ryzen 7 3700x with 8 cores and 16 threads, yet my computer only shows that I have 2 cores, I even got CPU-Z to confirm it, it says 2 cores and 4 threads. I've read a couple threads and I must be reading something wrong because I'm still at a loss. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Have you got newest bios on motherboard?
what are rest of specs?

Can't you change to 8 in msconfig ?

Was this a recent CPU change?

the number of CPU in msconfig is just how many windows uses to boot and changing it doesn't make any difference. Better to just leave msconfig alone.

Makes me wonder though.
This is mine:

I have more than 1 processor. I think windows uses another setting if you don't set it there.
CPU-Z sees my 6 cores/12 threads.
windows knows what I have too.
what does task manager show if you change the graphs on the Performance CPU charts to logical processors?

note: odd win11 thinks its windows 10 in there.

Look in the bios for a setting that describes how many cores you have.
Perhaps the default is wrong.

You'll have to tel us which MB and BIOS version. Also look in BIOS and see there, Reset CMOS to factory defaults.
