[citation][nom]joytech22[/nom]I think microsoft is the last company to make a ARM OS after 2000.[/citation]

It's one of the first companies to make RISC operating sistems. Windows CE anyone? Windows Mobile?

What's interesting about win8 is the posibility of installing it on a RISC CPU based machine and KEEPING ALL THE SOFTWARE that u run on your x86 PC.

Not to mention this gives nVidia a chance to get a piece of the mainstream PC pie (they do not have an x86 license). Immagine a Quad-Core RISC PC with nvidia graphics running the same high end games that your x86 pc with an intel or amd CPU can run. This would open up a lot of possibilities and unite platforms IF POSSIBLE.

Not possible, look at when Mac went to Intel processors. Everything had to be recompiled to run on the new architecture.

I hope you're right. I think it'll be a smart move making the Kinect compatible with their next console.

As we've been hearing, at the moment Kinect is supposedly "held back" by the power of the 360. Under new hardware the Kinect might be more capable. Could be a big marketing point for them.

That said, I think they were hoping Kinect would extend the lifespan of the 360 by several years - so I don't know.. Doesn't seem like they'll announce a new console here, but I'd like to be surprised.

Everything would need to be compiled for a different architecture. Just because an operating system works on a different architecture doesn't mean the rest of the software will.

The way people are talking about Windows 8, will there even be a point to moving from 7 to 8? Of course Microsoft will announce some almost useless feature on their new operating system like Aero View or whatever that will make 7 look like crap. But from all I have heard Windows 8 looks like it is going to be focused towards less powerful devices.
