Well DUH! Rocket science 101: Produce crap (that would be Vista) and the upgrade should sell like crazy compared to the previous version.

Still running XP even though I can get Win 7 for free through academic alliance.

1. If it is selling so well, it is probably because it is too cheap. You know all those market rules.

2. As for me, Win 7 has changed my life. It is a turning point for humanity.

The Most Solid OS I have ever run. There is no reason to stay with XP.

I had 1 piece of software that didnt run on it, it was free, so i replaced it with another piece of software, which was also free.

I had 1 Lego Web camera that didnt work, so my father replaced it when he bought a 2 for 1 deal of a Logitech Web Camera at futureshop.

that is 2 things that i had to replace, out of a huge amount of software and hardware.

the only thing left is for Adobe to get off thier butts and get Flash into a 64bit version so i can run IE 64.

vista loads quicker than windows 7 vista on my lappy dualcore and seven on i7 920 but vista runs slower so another vote for 7

[citation][nom]JOSHSKORN[/nom]Windows 7 FTW! Really though, the ONLY reason you NEED to upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 is if XP cannot support your software. This will happen, considering it came out in '02. If you're running Vista now, upgrading to Windows 7 should be a no brainer. I couldn't tell you how many times I dealt with crashes in Vista and had to be much more cautious about memory usage because Vista was just plain bloated. Of course though, if you just like to see newer things, Windows 7 looks SLIGHTLY better looking than Windows Vista on the outside. There's a MUCH more visable change between Windows XP and Windows Vista (or even Windows 7). The XPM feature is pretty sweet, too, although I don't have much use for it. I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate OEM 64-bit.[/citation]
Um not really games like STALKET call of pripyat look FAR superior on Wndows 7 than on Xp, thats why i upgraded, Windows 7 for me works WAY faster than Xp, so your comment about "the only reason to upgrade...." is crap!

bought the family 3 pack before Micorsoft discontinued it and its the best decision I ever made regarding os choices. 3 pack was cheap and Windows 7 is lightyears better than XP.

Man this is a MS fan boy site if I ever seen one. I bought a new laptop recently and the first change was to wipe the DRM infected NSA co-authored infection known as Windows off of it. It now has a secure OS known as Linux on it. Now flame me MS fanboys then go play with your Crapbox 360.

I've never had any problems with Vista, what so ever. Don't know what everyone is complaining for. I guess it is lack of skill...

[citation][nom]razorblaze42[/nom]My #1 annoyance with windows 7 is the stupid auto arranges files/folders/pictures. The ability to drag a file/folder/picture to a new location in windows XP has been replaced an mandatory auto arrange. While there’s maybe a hundred choices to set how you’d like them arranged...by month, day, rating, tag, name, time, size… there’s NOT a toggle to turn auto arrange OFF.. And simply let me drag my files file/folder/picture to whatever location my little heart desires.[/citation]
This is a HUGE concern for me being one who is thinking of going from XP to 7, as windows explorer is my favorite program. (I'm not being sarcastic)

Where are you seeing this autoarrange stuff?? I've used 7 the same as vista and XP. The only thing I find annoying in explorer is how it's harder to "lasso" stuff. Which is also impossible to do with nautilus in linux.

Dude, come on. Half of us are gamers so we have to run windows. It really is pretty good. So is the 360 (minus RRoD)

And you can't call me out on it specifically because I am typing this in linux right now. I dual boot it. There are LOTS of others that do the same thing.

Open my documents, or pictures and just try dragging any file to another location within that folder, windows 7 won't allow it, because it set to autoarrange all files and folders. In XP I could easily move a file/folder/picture into whatever order I wanted.... its annoying as hell

Oh. Solution: stop using the my documents folder.

I never really have so it isn't any different to me at all. Especially because on my desktop I've got a data drive.

Actually I do use that on my laptop and I don't remember that. Lemme boot into windows and I'll check. (In linux)

Let's see. If I provide a service that can only be delivered by me that pretty much everyone requires. And that service is absolute crap (Vista), then I turn around and provide a newer service that fixes a lot of the problems of the previous service.... of course it's going to sell like crazy. People want to get away from the garbage operating system.

Windows XP is still the best MS OS out there.

Okay, real solution. Totally ignore "libraries" and "windows homegroup" that's where you're going wrong. It really does work the same as long as those "new" (useless) features are properly ignored. I saw that they were "user friendly" stuff out of the gate that would need to be setup and just avoided them and used networking and everything else as normal. Maybe one day I'll look up how to disable/remove it entirely. Probably not...

First off, why would you not want things arranged by name and or date? i love how i dont have to refresh to get win explorer to put things a to z. but if you dont like that, then right click and choose clear changes. the auto arrange gets turned off. and if you are trying to keep a certain folder in a certain place on screen in win Explorer, just name them in a fasion that will keep the ones you want in a certain place in that place. for instance if you want to sort folders with a certain folder at the top of the list give it a 01 at the front. this will keep it at the top. it seems kind of ridiculous to me that this would be a reason that you dont like windows 7, when there are far more benifiets that totally outweight this one thing.

Win 7 is Vista, It just got a new 50 million dollar marketing Scheme and a few new features. If you like 7 but want to save
$ 20.00 buy Vista and go online and download the add on's.

I like Windows 7 a lot! I'm currently running triple boots on 2 of my computers and single boot on 1 computer. My first computer is a Intel P4 3.06GHz HT with 533MHz FSB, Nvidia 6600GT, 2GB RAM, 2 37GB WD Raptar 10K HDDs, 2 WD 320GB EIDE HDDs, 500w PSU, with a triple boot OS of Win XP Pro, Vista Ultimate, and 7 Ultimate. My second computer is a Intel P4 3.4GHz HT with 800MHz FSB, 4GB RAM, Radeon HD 3850 AGP, 2 WD Caviar Black 1TB, 2 WD 500GB EIDE Caviar Blue HDDs, Antec 650w PSU, with a triple boot OS of Win XP Pro, Vista Ultimate, and 7 Ultimate. My third computer is Intel i7 920, 6GB G Skill Trident CAS6 RAM, Geforce 250 GTS 1GB, 2 Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB, 2 WD Caviar Black 1TB, Corsair HX1000w PSU, with windows 7 only. My oldest computer wont run Windows Vista very well, the OS is crap, but it does run Windows 7 just fine. On the second oldest computer I never run Windows XP or Vista, I don't need Windows XP anymore, and I hate Windows Vista. So basically I'm going to format my old PCs and just use Windows 7 on all three of my computers. BTW, my old computer was built in 2003 and it has no problem running Windows 7 Ultimate! Windows 7 is a great upgrade for even the older computers! Oh and I even run full OS graphics with Aero and all with even my oldest computer.
