MSI 165 gets distorted at 120hertz

Just bought 165 Hertz monitor and I'm currently using a rx480 graphics card but when ever I switch the hertz from 60 to 120 or 144 everything gets blurry. Is there a way to fix this?

Which monitor are you using? What connection are you using? (HDMI, DP, DVI?)

Yeah I realize I was using a dvi cable and that doesn't go up to high amount of hertz so the monitor came with a display port cable and I was able to achieve it
