I was looking at gtx 560s on newegg and decided on these two cards

i'll be playing games like gta 4, just cause 2, and red faction armageddon

If you are gaming at 1080p, and you are spending $200+, go for a 2GB card. GTA 4 benefits from it as well as a few other popular games like Skyrim if you are using the high res texture pack, and BF3 runs a bit better as well.

Edit: Oh and to answer your question about the Effective Memory clock, the 7870 has a higher memory bandwidth. The 560Ti is about 128GB/s, the 7870 is about 153GB/s.
