Hi there,

I'm looking to upgrade my PC parts for gaming atm. I have a MSI 760GM-P23(FX) motherboard paired with a FX 4300 and looking for help on what the best CPU upgrade will be for this motherboard? So far, it runs nicely with a GTX 950 and I want to upgrade to a 1050 ti (It's in my budget) but am not sure if the parts I have right now will bottleneck heavily.

Yeah, no problem man! With $340 you can get an i3-6100 and a B150 motherboard or if you're up for some fun, find a good seller on Ebay (my definition of "good" means at least 100 purchases from that seller and no less than 98% feedback) and purchase a used CPU and motherboard. I have been getting into that sort of thing lately and have been saving a TON of money. If you want any suggestions for good CPUs, feel free to ask! Hope this helps!
Hello and thanks for asking on Tom's Hardware!

I understand the FX-4300 is having no issues with your GTX 950, but the GTX 1050 Ti will definitely have a slight bottleneck on your CPU. Unfortunately the CPU and especially the motherboard are quite dated in terms of performance and architecture, can you squeeze a little more out of your budget for a new CPU and motherboard?

Thanks for the reply. My total budget is about $340 but I'm willing to spend about $200-230 for both CPU and motherboard and save a little more for a GTX 1050 TI or 1060 if it comes down to that.
