Hi, long time lurker here, I've been on toms many a time looking for solutions and until this point have always been able to piece it together and fix/repair my problem, but today I am stumped. I purchased 8 gigs of Patriot Viper Ram the other day off of new egg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220852&nm_mc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel&cm_mmc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel-_-Content-_-text-_-) and received it today. I promptly reset my bios taking all appropriate precautions, removed my old ram, inserted the new ram, and booted to bios where I double checked that the auto speed for the ram had gone to 1600, which it had, and saved my bios after setup.

Then, I waited, and waited, and waited.
and waited.

Nothing happened. The screen stayed black with no cursor or anything. I searched around and tried messing with they timings, but could not get it to work. I must be doing something wrong. Also, somewhere I remember reading that there may be an oc feature I need to turn on for this type of ram, but I could find no reference as to where or how to turn it on. Any help would be much appreciated. The specs for my computer are:

MB: MSI 770-C45 (http://us.msi.com/product/mb/770C45.html#hero-overview)
PW Supply: 750 W
CPU: AMD Athlon II x4 630 (2.8 GHz)
Ram: Patrio Viper DDR3 240 1866 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220852&nm_mc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel&cm_mmc=TEMC-RMA-Approvel-_-Content-_-text-_-)
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate

If there is any other information needed, please let me know below. Also, if possible I would like to run my current 4 gigs of Patriot Section 5 Ram as well, its specs are DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666)

Thank you for your help!

Well, it's either a board or RAM issue.

Why did you reset your bios? Does the bios display when you start your pc?

Try sticking your old RAM in and seeing what happens, other than that I'm not sure. If your bios does require you to turn on a feature and you can't find it, contact MSI and see if they can help you out.

The reason I had to reset my BIOS is NOTHING was popping up. I couldn't even boot into my BIOS. I had been looking for various guides online and people recommended resetting your BIOS and voila! It then popped up where I was able to manipulate it and try various settings. I messed around with the recommendations I was seeing online, but had not positive results. I then put my old ram back in, and am able to boot up. I know the ram is good because it was tried in another computer, and I know the motherboard is good because I am currently using the computer I was not able to get started with the new ram installed.

Ahh, so it is a RAM issue, good thing we narrowed down the problem.

Now you've just got to figure out if the RAM is faulty or your MOBO doesn't like it.

Have you tried the new RAM in another PC?
