So I recently got into pc building and picked out and purchased my first pc parts. Parts are here : http://pcpartpicker.com/list/8yhgwV
My problem: I had an asus m5a97 mobo, and bricked it trying to update its bios and it powering off. I ordered the msi 970 and installed everything and its running great and stable. So I wanted to ask for help before I messed with anything and [CENSORED] up another motherboard.
Mobo bios version is v22.4. First question is do I update its bios or am I good? Do I change or update any settings ? I found this nice video which shows all menus and all options on this mobo : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dmIv1Mqj0s so you can guide me through with ease.
Next, I want to install windows. Up to what version can I install? Which SHOULD I install to start off? How do I do so off of a USB since i dont have a cd reader?
Basically looking for someone to write me up a small guide to getting up and running on windows so I dont brick another mobo. Thanks in advanced for taking out of your time to help a starting pc builder.
