Hey all,

Upon launching MSI Afterburner (in an attempt to overclock GPU), when I interact with it(e.g. click on settings), my PC comepletely freezes up and I need to reset it. I tried re installing, still no luck. I installed the newest version, too. Can't seem to find a fix online, I'm on Windows 10 btw and my specs are:

i5 4690k 3.5Ghz
MSI R9 390
Kingston HyperX 16GB 1886Mhz RAM
MSI Z97 Gaming 3 Mobo

No idea why this happens and really want a fix as looking to overclock! All help is appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

Have you tried older versions of msi afterburner? If problem persists it's probably a conflict between AMD Radeon settings and afterburner, other than that I personally don't really have any answers, what kind of freezing are we talking about here?

Freezing as in static sound persisting and unable to do anything on the PC. Just an imagine basically.

I will check when I am at my PC if an older version works, thanks for the reply!

Ok so it's a full on crash essentially, if you're not planning to overvolt your card to overclock, I suggest you simply adjust the sliders in the AMD Radeon settings, if you don't already know it's in tab labelled gaming and then global settings.

Have a same problem with my MSI Afterburner freezes the image and complete PC can't do even strg+alt delete to end the task, only what works is i have to restart it. Didn't overclock my card, and works perfectly with other apps, games. It hapens mostly random moments once by starting the MSI program other time when i was seting up the stats in game MSIA OSD/RTSS and when i was making my custom phan diagram...still hapens once in a while but mostly random...

My rig
OS:Win 10
GPU: Radeon R9 390X Double Dissipation Black Edition 8GB
CPU with the custom Cooler: i7-4770S 3,1 Ghz Turbo Boost 3,9 Ghz, Cool Master
RAM:16 Gb 1600 Mhz CL-9
PSU: Be quiet 750 W Power Zone 80+ Bronze
MoB: Asus Rock Z87 Pro3
2xSSD: 120 Gb Scan Disk
HD:1 TB Western Digital

I know this is old, but having this problem too, which is a shame because I really like having afterburner for the on screen monitor, fan control, and screenshotting features, but even with multiple drivers and a couple different afterburner versions cleanly installed I get a crash.
