why did they not put in the SU9600 rather than the SU3500? The SU3500 is single core, runs @1.4GHz with 3MB Cache (and 5.5W), while the SU9600 is dual core, runs @1.6GHz with 3MB Cache (and 10W), they are also both at 800MHz FSB. The Intel prices are: $289 and $262 for the SU9600 and SU3500. For the $27 difference I hope they offer the SU9600 as an upgrade option on the X-340 (for another $40?). I would be happy to give up a little battery performance to have the extra core and extra 200MHz clock, what do you guys think?

1- The price is just outrageous for an Atom processor
2- as far as I know 13,4" screens are laptops, not netbooks! I have a Sony vaio 13,3" and it's definitely a laptop!
It comes with resolutions of 1280x800.
I'm a bit dissapointed the so called "netbook" would have such a large screen and still have such a low resolution. At 13" I'd expected 1280x800 or more!
If they manufactured 1366x768 on a 9 or 10" screen, that would've been outstanding!

no, this is big slim netbook, not only a netbook.
or we can call it Netlaptop!
price is not great, but compared to Apple air, that can't do much more than a netbook, price is good!

We have yet to receive one of these units, albeit we're the largest MSI house in the US... I will say that I don't like that they advertise the playback of 1080P when the resolution isn't even capable of 1080P. I suppose this may be different when sending the signal out HDMI. The only thing I can think of is that after hooking it up to a 1080P capable display, you can change the resolution, making the it un-viewable on the X340's display, but displaying on the other, then having to switch it back prior to disconnecting from the 1080P display.

Also, it should be understood that aside from downloading 1080P content from the net, there is no way of playing back ANY disc based media without the purchase of an external DVD/RW or Blu Ray.

Just spoke with Mark, waiting to get an answer on the 1080P question.


We've moved ~25,000 winds since November and hopefully we can do similar #'s with the X series.
