[SOLVED] MSI B550 MAG Mortar (CSM v. UEFI)

I built my PC earlier this year, with everything being new except for the GPU given how hard they are to come by. I could not get the PC to post, but I ultimately got it to work by buying a really cheap GPU (1030, I think), which allowed me to post. From there I changed the motherboard from UEFI BIOS to CSM. This allowed my older GPU to post and I was good to go from there.

I was selected for a 3060 ti in today's Newegg Shuffle, so that will be coming in the mail soon. My question here is, what should I do in order to install the new GPU once it arrives? Is it as simple as changing the settings back to UEFI while my old GPU is installed, shutting down, installing the new GPU, and starting it back up again? I assume that is the case, but I'm just afraid to mess something up given the issues that I had when I originally built the PC. I just returned the 1030 GPU that I bought before when my old GPU was able to post, so I might go ahead and buy one to have on hand in case I need it, then return it if I don't need to use it (may be unnecessary).

From my limited understanding from googling it, I don't believe the 3060 ti will work so long as the motherboard is set to CSM. Is that correct?

Any and all pertinent information is welcome.

Thanks!

Sometimes the card wont boot at all, it will give you a beep code or debug code. well you could just turn off the csm and save the settings when you're about to install the 3060Ti into your motherboard.

Yeah, I ran into those beep codes when I built the PC. It was giving me a GPU code, but I knew the GPU worked cause I could slap it back into my old computer and it worked just fine. Took me a good bit of troubleshooting, but that's when I figured out that I could buy a really cheap but newer GPU that would post in UEFI. That GPU let me into BIOS so I could change it to CSM, then my old GPU worked just fine.

But yeah, that's where my worry came in, and why I was trying to confirm that changing that setting is all I "should" have to do in order to pop the new 3060 ti in. Once I change it from CSM to UEFI and shut it down, I will no longer be able to post with my old GPU, so I wanted to make sure that I had all steps lined out before doing it and potentially locking myself out like I was when I built the PC.

Thanks!
