Both are decent choices, but better to go with Tomahawk. Has way cooler VRMs, additional M.2 Shield etc.

Also, if cheaper, it would be better to go with the straight 5600.

I’m building a pc and can’t decide between the msi b550 tomahawk and msi b550 a-pro.
The tomahawk is on sale for 155$ and the a-pro is 133$
Im gonna use a 5600x in the build

For that money, you would be much better off with the X570 Steel Legend that retails fo 149$. Solid board with the X570 chipset, no point going with the B550 at the same price.

The msi b550 a-pro dropped 10$ dollars on Amazon so now it’s 30$ price difference between the tomahawk

If the X570 steel legend has a chipset fan there's that to contend with. There's really no point in going with an X570 board unless you've need of the extra pcie lanes.

For $133 the A-Pro looks like a terrific board and it's VRM, with 12 CPU VCore phases, is still gonna be cool running even with a 5950X and overkill for a 5600X. The Tomahawk's VRM is better (also 12 phases but smart power stages) but really unecessary for Ryzen 5000 CPU's unless dabbling in extreme overclocking of high core count CPU's. That's impractical for 24/7 use with Ryzen because it usually entails crazy things like LN2 cooling.
