I'm ashamed of myself for not researching further but the MSI CSM-H87M-G43 was among the top tier in the tier guide for H87m boards, and it has OC settings, so I thought it would work. While it lets you alter the settings, it only goes lower than the stock 32x 100MHz, not higher. The OC genie also does nothing.

I tried the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility and that does the same thing. It teased me with its Turbo Boost option that allowed higher multipliers at first, but sets them back to 32x when you hit Apply (and stress test confirms it stays 3.2GHz).

Now the only thing I can think of is hopefully there's a different BIOS I can flash that would allow a real overclock. I've googled my eyes out but can't find info on it. Really hoping someone can chime in with some knowledge or other possible options! If not I might have to see if I can return it and get something else.

OK solved it... Had to download/install MSI's LiveUpdate to detect that there was an update to my BIOS. Updated that and voila, I can now go beyond 32x multiplier! Now to testing and benchmarking 😀

Hi, I have the same mobo/cpu, but I've updated to bios 1.8 and am still unable to go above 32x 100MHz. "CPU Ratio - Auto" is unchangeable in the bios. What bios version are you using? Also do you know of any way to find bios versions other than through live update? I want this to be a linux box so having to keep a windows drive in it just for trying to OC and do updates is annoying to say the least. Thanks!

Sorry about the 3-months late reply!
