RX480 is on GTX970 or R9 390 level.
GTX1070 is a whole new caliber.
AMD sucks this time.
If you want AMD and want to save money, get R9 390 or R9 390x.
If you want brute power and have the money for it, get GTX1070 or GTX1080.
Friberg is incorrect ! Go for the 1070 you will not regret it . I have an msi gtx 1070 gaming x 8g . Yes i can max out every single game on 1080p , but in some titles i'm only getting 70fps , and there are some dips to 50fps in certain games in certain scenarios .
RX480 = GTX 970 , is a 970 enough for you ?
@jenojaxx , on 1080p it will be able to play on max settings. Maybe not 60+ FPS all the time but on a mix with very high / high it will play on 60+ frames

Exactly and that's the problem , 2017 is just around the corner , and soon its gonna be 2018 .
If it can't even demolish current games what do you expect 2 years from now ?
@jenojaxx. It's the same with all sub $300 GPUs. They are supposed to last for ~1.5 years with decent graphics and then be replaced after those 1.5 years

I really don't know, I also want to buy a monitor and all in a 800AUD budget. I want to play games like Gta 5, Project cars, Whitcher 3 all at around 80-90fps at 1080p (highest setting) and I want it to last me some descent time in which I could play all the upcoming games at a decent frame rate.

Well if you would like to last a while i'd go for the 1070 as aformentioned , but if you want a gpu + monitor combo for 800AUD , then you simply can not afford a gtx 1070 .

I am changing it. I am going to save up for the monitor in the future and right now just use the old one I have. I am getting the Msi Gtx gaming X 1070 and also get another 8gb of ddr4 2133mhz ram. Would that work nice together? A 1070 with 16gb of ram? Currently I just have 8

Yes , 8 gb ram is the minimum for the gtx 1070 , 16 and more is recommended .
