Question msi GE62 6QD apache pro 100% hdd usage spikes

Hello,
I have an old gaming laptop (msi GE62 6QD apache pro) that no matter how much i update / clean install new windows 10 has 100% HDD usage spikes,
I would happy to know how I can test it to find the specific issue if it is hardware (most likely) or software.
Can someone please help?

Try running disk check... chkdsk.exe / f/r What power setting are you using in windows? Try using high performance setting if not using. Try disabling your antivirus to see if it is the culprit.

How much ram does your laptop have?
Can you show screenshots from HDtune health

thanks for the quick reply, I tried chkdsk but it keeps happening, I'm on high performance and have no anti-virus, only the one that comes with windows 10.

Drive health seems fine.But you may want to upgrade to SSD.

I believe I will upgrade to ssd in the future, but shouldn't there be a solution to those usage spikes with normal HDD installed?

You can find it with Resource Monitor.
Open Disk tab and check Disk Activity section.
Order table by column total and you'll get name of process and affected file, that causes disk activity.

Show screenshot, if you can't make sense of it.

Resource monitor would be in Computer management, performance, resource monitor.

From what I see there, it is always a different process, not a specific one, changing by what I open at a time, so it doesn't feel like a specific process does it.
