Question MSI GF 75 THIN 95D - External Monitor Not Detecting 144hz

Monitor:
Acer Nitro XV272U 27″ 1440p 144Hz IPS FreeSync HDR.

Laptop:
MSI GF75 Thin Gaming Laptop, Intel i7-9750H, GTX 1660 Ti, 17.3" FHD 120Hz IPS-Level, 32GB RAM, 1TB NVMe SSD+2TB SSHD, 6-Core up to 4.50 GHz, Backlit, 4K Output, Win 10, Gamer Notebook Computer


Using HDMI currently. I have tried USB C to HDMI, USB C to DP, none of these work. I believe the USB C port from my laptop doesn't work as a video port and only for file transfers.

If I set it to 144hz in NVIDIA Control Panel then the monitor doesn't display anything because doesn't get detected. But if I set it to 120 Hz it works. However, my monitor flickers off and on every few seconds. The only stable refresh rate is 100hz.

I have updated all my graphic drivers from NVIDIA and Intel.

I am out of options. Any ideas?

What is your GPU specs? Is it the GTX 1050ti with max q?

According to this review, 144Hz is only available with 8-bit color. 10-bit color only allows up to 120Hz.

"Based on an IPS panel by Innolux, the Acer XV272U monitor supports 10-bit color via dithering (8-bit + 2-bit FRC) and covers 95% of the DCI-P3 color gamut (~130% sRGB).
However, for 10-bit color, you will have to limit the refresh rate to 120Hz."

I don't know if this could be your problem, although it doesn't explain why you can only make 100Hz work. But at least it could be worth looking into.

Thank you for the article, but it's already at 8-bit! 😢
