My son purchased a second hand MSI graphics card off ebay over a year ago to build a gaming computer, unfortunately when the computer failed to start up, we searched for another cause and in the end the whole project was shelved. we have just got round to looking at it again only to discover it was the graphics card. The computer would start up for a 'split second' and shut down, the same thing would happen in other working computers, we have now purchased another graphics card and all working well, does anyone have any idea why the old graphics card would cause that problem and if its fixable.

Very many thanks in advance

Solution
It's likely the GPU is damaged and has a short circuit of some sort in the card. You're lucky it didn't fry the motherboard or power supply. It unfortunately is the chance you take buying used hardware.
