I'm a no0b. Let's start with that.

This is my very first computer build

Everything went great, but when I fire the computer up, I get a 'No Signal' on my Monitor'. Ok, wtf.

I unplug my GPU from the PS, and plug my HDMI into the MOBO. I get a signal, and everything works great. With the system fired up, and having a signal, if I plug the GPU back into the PS, nothing happens. The system doesn't detect anything other than the onboard video card.

If I leave the GPU plugged into power, restart, and attempt to enter BIOS, 'No Signal' again, even though my HDMI is plugged into the MoBo still. Basically, if the GPU is plugged into power, I will not have a Display Signal. If I unplug the GPU from the PS, I am able to get a display signal through my MoBo.

Parts:

CPU - Intel i7 7700
MoBo - Gigabyte z270 Gaming 5
PS - Corsair RM850X
GPU - MSI GTX 1080 8G
System - Windows 10 Home 64-bit

I've searched and searched, can't seem to find anything helpful. I have the GPU plugged into both the 8 and 6 pin ports on the card, and in the PCIe 6+2 on the PS Side. Nothing is clear as to whether I need to plug into both spots on the card, or not. I assumed so, since they are both there.

I have downloaded all drivers, everything seems updated. Although, I can't seem to figure out how to check to see if the BIOS is up to date. I will continue looking for that once I post this.

Thanks All

Anti-static gloves don't really ground out any charge you build up

depending on the Relative Humidty, you may or may not have taken sufficient precautions. It does sound like your gpu is DOA, and that could very well be caused by ESD

if your RH>75 you're likely to be OK. If RH<20, you are screwed. In between......??

How do the GPU companies normally deal with situations like this? Am I going to be out a $500 video card, or do you think they will have me send it to them, and send me a replacement?
