I'm in the market for a graphics card at $150-$180. The 7850 looks like the best option, and the 7790/650 Ti+ do not seem like they come close in terms of performance/price ratio. Does anyone disagree? Is there something I'm missing?

I have read in one review or another that AMD has hinted that the 7850 1gb card won't be hanging around at it's current price forever. Now whether that means the price will go up or the card will be phased out I don't know. So if you want one I wouldn't wait to long or they may be hard to find at 185$.

I read that even with the added power on the 650 TI, That the price would not change. It was only to compete with AMD's 7790. I expected there would be a price increase, PC hardware manufacturers are not about to give up a chance to make more money if they can.

the 7850 1gb is phasing out due to production for ddr5 vram for that model is ceasing.

the prices will shift a little. I believe in the UK,(read on OCN) that the 650ti and 660 are about to take a small price cut. the new 650ti will take the old 650ti's relative price spot and then some. If I had to make a early guess, the 192 bus thats going in this 650ti boost will give it an edge on where the 7790 slacks in heavy loaded games due to the 7790 only having a 6000 mhz memory speed on top of a 128 bus.

If this card is $170+ then it will fail hard. A HD7790 which is 12% faster than the 650ti is $150 while a HD7850OC is $180 and it will be considerably faster than a overclocked 650ti. Nvidia have been in the business of bad decisions, to throw on a few extra dollars for factory overclocks is just a scam.

iirc only the 1gb varient will phase out of production for the 7850. I think the 2gb will stay for awhile. the 7790 is more or less replacing what the 78501gb was holding(albeit slower), but averagely cheaper MSRP wise.

If we could get confirmation on that, that would be great! I planned on grabbing the 2GB version anyway, with the next-gen consoles coming out next year.

The HD7850 2GB card is selling at the $180 range, though Ive heard it will be cut down soon maybe some around $160 which for a card like that is a steal, right now the HD7850 is one of the biggest money spinners for AMD due to its nothing short of stellar performance.

This card at $160 is not worth it, factory overclocked 650ti

The GTX 650 Ti Boost is not an overclocked 650 Ti. It is a GTX 660 with one SMX cut out. So, the GTX 650 Ti will perform comparatively to the Radeon 7850 (IE a little slower than the GTX 660). It's possible that some models will meet the GTX 660 with factory overclocks.

The Radeon 7790 will be reduced to sitting between the Radeon 7850/GTX 650 Ti Boost tier and the GTX 650 Ti (non-boost), so it may get a price reduction along with a price reduction on the Radeon 7850 2GB.

yeah I saw that, to say not impressed is an understatement. Nvidia are a farcry from the Nvidia of old, basically they are now a kind of desperate reactive company, first the Titan which is likely going to be slower than Nvidia's and AMD's next champion parts and cost double consuming a hullavalot of power in the process. Then this 650ti boost rebranded 660 and far from impressive.

Titan isn't likely to be slower than AMD's and Nvidia's next top-end single GPU consumer parts IMO and it doesn't consume that much power anyway. Furthermore, the GTX 650 Ti Boost is like the GTX 560 all over again, so I have to at least partially disagree with your opinion of them.

Don't forget the 192 bit bus and 24 rops. That should help performance.
