So I kind of bought an msi gtx 750 ti 2gb low profile and i was wondering if i can run it and if its safe to install on my pc

Specs
Intel I5 6400
Gt 730
8 gb
300 watt power supply
All i want to know is if i can install it and if its safe or not?

Solution
Apologies but I don't quite understand what you mean by is it 'safe'?

Obviously they are made to be installed, if you mean are there any risks? Yes, but only if you do it carelessly.
- If you go in wearing lovely fluffy socks on carpet, you could generate static and discharge to your components, thus damaging them
- You could force the GPU in a way in which is damages the PCIe slot, the motherboard or the GPU itself
- You could get oil or dust on the major connections of the component
- You could forget to connect a key power connector or secure the GPU to the case

It's easier to damage the Motherboard, CPU etc.

But it really isn't difficult, there are risks associated with handling any electrical component, but with some very simple...
It's hard to tell exactly, but it looks to me like the card should fit fine, especially as it's low profile. It also depends on what type you opted for.

I would recommend: SeaSonic 350W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply
It's affordable, and excellent quality.

An ATX PSU can fit into a Micro ATX case, best option is just to measure what space you have at your current PSU mount and buy accordingly, but generally, those kind of PSUs will be of a generally standard size give or take some error.

You can search online for the entire PC model if it was prebuilt
There should be a label on the back of the case (or any wall) with the spec. Even if you just see the words "ATX".

It totally depends on your other components, my judgement would say with your current spec, at peak load you wouldn't hit more than 270W. SO a 350W still gives headspace.

But as I mentioned previously, a higher wattage will give even more headspace. I know multiple people who have ran 750Ti with only a 300W PSU. But they're always good quality PSUs. That's why I'd recommend a 350W - 400W. More if you're considering lots more upgrades.

A Corsair CX450 is a good budge PSU shout for non-extreme gaming builds. They are budget built, but better than your current PSU, and come with a good warranty. And gives you plenty of headspace.

I can't tell without knowing what case you have. But the best way would be to check any manufacturers manuals you may have received with the PC, it will state what form factor PSU it can take.

Failing that just measure your PSU mounting area and then compare that to the size of the PSU. But generally as long as your case can hold standard ATX PSU, which most can, then you won't have a problem.

Also don't worry desperately about the fact that you've already bought the card, it will likely work, as I said, the 750Ti is low power.

But what I am saying is low quality PSUs can spell disaster, and don't always distribute the power they suggest that they do. And if it were me, I'd want a good quality 350W PSU at least.

Intresting. Well Personally For some reason I want to try to install it on my case the way it is right now. But on the other hand, Im scared that it might damage my PC I dont have the money right now to buy a new PSU let alone know if I even can install one Il get 50 euros later and Il buy a new PSU but for now Im gonna take my chances the msi gtx 750 ti low profile is a fairly low wattage card. Also Mine will have 2gb does that mean it will take up more power?

More VRAM is more power, 2GB is minimal for modern day GPUs so you won't have to worry.

That's fair enough. As I said previously, it may work, but reputable PSUs are always better, the 750TI is low wattage and if you're not overclocking your risk is further reduced. But IMO I would want at least a good 350W.

But obviously it's completely up to you, as I also said, I know many people who run a 750Ti with a good 300W. Just be wary poor quality PSUs can often not distribute the power they state, and have cheaper fail safe mechanisms in place.

Go for it, your system already has a GT 730, the 750 ti doesnt use much more power.

In my opinion it will be fine.

Well as long as I don't do anything stupid I should be good.
Im Gonna consider buying a better PSU because Im gonna need one if im gonna upgrade to Even Better Cards for example the gtx 1060 thank you all for taking the time to answer my questions. Have a good One :)

dont have the money for that :] hopefully the gtx 750 ti can run gta 5 and other games at 1080p does the low profile have less performance than the normal one?
