Msi GTX 980 4gb Black Screen

I have recently replaced my way out of date gtx 660ti with a new Msi gtx 980. The problem being, I get no display on my monitor.
The monitor itself detects the cable but I get no display. I have tried removing my old graphics card drivers completely and It didn't help. It would seem the card is not being detected.
Any help?

Motherboard: ASUS p877-m
CPU:Intel I5 3570k
PSU: Corsair RM750

I did, it doesn't seem to have helped.

What ports using for connecting the monitor?
The board is P8Z77-M, right?

That is the motherboard.
The monitor is an older VGA monitor, I am using a DVI-I to VGA cable.

Theoretically, it should work. However, I suggest borrowing a monitor with digital input and testing. Or, if a TV is available, test with a HDMI cable.

I just tried with a HDMI cable, no luck.

If connecting the VGA on the board to the monitor, does it work?

Yeah, it launches with the integrated graphics.

Try clearing the CMOS, if you haven't already. If still the same, test the card in a friend's PC to make sure that it does work. Or RMA it.
