I installed my new msi gtx 980 gaming 3 hours ago. I ran every game good. But when I tried to test battlefield 4, I got 45/50/60 fps with ultra settings. I check my cpu, it was at 99/100%... I don't know, I think it's bottleneck, but only in this game is pretty strange! I also checked in Google for other people with my cpu or similar and They haven't this problem. Is it a bf 4 problem? Can I fix it?
My config is:
Msi gtx 980 gaming
i5 3550
CM Thunder 700
8gb Kingdom 1600mhz
CM Haf X
WD black
Asus P8H77-V
Sorry for my bad English, I'm Italian...

It's not really a bug or anything but I believe your CPU is definitely bottlenecking the GPU.
As most people know, BattleField 4 is pretty Graphic intensive as much as it requires CPU Power.

Since your i5 is not strong enough for BF4, I suggest upgrade your CPU or play on lower settings.

Hope it helped!

Good Luck!

Wow, bottleneck more than 50 fps? D: btw I'm thinking it too, because when I use dsr to 2k or 4k I get more fps, and incredibly at 4k it runs better ( less fps but smoother gameplay and no fps drop due to the 1080p bottleneck ) D:

Do you have the latest drivers for the 980?

Also, try running other demanding games like Crysis 3, Metro Last Light, Watch Dogs,.....etc and compare those numbers to the numbers you see online for the 980

I don't think BF 4 is that CPU intensive. Something else maybe eating your CPU cycles. Try closing most of the background apps and disable Antivirus protection for a short time and see what will happen

I'm running BF4 on my 290X and i7 3770k and getting 50% CPU utilization in the campaign. Did you test the game in campaign or multi player mode?
