MSI Nvidia 970 Freezing issues

Maybe you guys can help!
My computer will routinely hard freeze whilst playing games, with the main ones I play being LoL and the witcher 3. It can be an hour or two into a game, or 5 minutes but what happens is the screen locks and nothing responds to any inputs I make.

My Rig is as follows
Videocard- msi nvidia GEforce GTX 970
AMD 9590 8-core cpu
16 gb of ram
windows 8.1 64-bit OS
MOBO Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3
CX600M for my PSU

Any help would be great.

I would first check that all the connections are solid, and the graphics card is fully seated into the slot. Can remove the gpu and RAM, and reinstall them.

Then, reinstall the drivers from the GPU, and use the latest ones off the manufacturer's website.

Finally, use software to monitor the cpu and gpu temps as what you describe may be a thermal issue. I use Core Temp which is freeware.

Try a different CPU. You need a water cooler to run the fx9590 and a 1000W PSU.

Got a h100i and a new 1000w and it runs great! thanks for the advice!
