Does anyone use sound cards anymore?

I have been wondering if getting like a $100 decent sound card is worth it. I am asking if the audio on this motherboard would be similar to or better than a dedicated sound card. I have a very good audio system for my setup; but should I stick with just using the motherboard, or go with a sound card, or even an external amp?

What do y'all think?

I think that the sound quality today on motherboards is excellent and I would only go with something else if I wasn't happy with it.
