Hello, nut sure if this is the right place to ask, but Ill do it anyway. So, on wendsday i get my MSI R9 280X gpu from ebay, the seller had good opinions, plus i got the card for $137 from an auction, anyway, so i put my card in, install the drivers and right from logging in, i noticed white squares and black flashing rectangles. Did more research and found out that the card is artifacting. Dont have screenshots of it though. Previously i had a GTX 650 2GB. So, i need help with stopping those artifacts from happening and furthermore, amd drivers crashing each time a map is loaded in BF4. Mostly the textures get weird too. Help me!
Specs:
AMD FX-6300 3.5ghz
MSI R9 280X 3GB
Corsair 750 Watt psu
ASUS M5A78L-M LX PLUS AM3+
By the way, my temps while idle are 30C- 40C. None of the components are overclocked.

Solution
Artifacts are usually a sign of:

a) Too high frequency to GPU or Video Memory (downlock to test)

b) Defective card

It's not a driver issue, it's hardware. You have two main choices:

1) Downclock the GPU, VRAM, or both until the issue disappears,

2) Return the card. I recommend sending to MSI provided you are capable (likely need a copy of the purchase details) otherwise through the seller.

*THIS is why I tend to stay away from EBay.

**You can also get a card like this NEW for more money but with the GOLD TIER never settle option to get three games. There's an MSI R9-280 for $156 (after an MIR and discount code) that comes with the gold tier so you can choose games like Sniper Elite III, Tomb Raider...
More or less means your card is on it's way out. And that unfortunately is the life lived when buying second hand. Deals can be had for new products, and I always advise people settle for a little extra cash spent, for working products.

But for sake of mind, did you uninstall your nvidia drivers? They don't play well with ATI drivers in the same build

Solution

Can you link me the site? If i get my money back for the defect, i might add a few bucks to get a new one.

Robalek100:
Video cards in general: http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/video-card/

MSI R9-280 for $156 (after $30 MIR, and applying the 7% discount code):
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127789&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

You would then choose the games you want and redeem the codes from the GOLD games tier. Choose carefully based on current Steam prices. For example you could choose:

1) Sniper Elite III
2) Tomb Raider
3) Star Citizen (for when released)

So my advice is return the card via EBay and get a new one like this with the games.

Kudos to you friend, will return the card to the seller and ill get the new one from new egg, glad to see a good answer.
