MSI R9 290 Replacing thermal paste

I was having temperature issues with my R9 290, very high temps during even casual internet browsing. Now that I changed the thermal paste from the old hard and dry paste to some new arctic silver 5 paste it has reduced temps by over 20 degrees Celsius.

You didn't run the same preset settings so you can't compare performance. Yes its probably cooler but your screen shot shows different settings so i don't know what its supposed to prove.

Extreme Hd is a preset for ultra, I ran both on maximum settings, not just with benchmarks but with games also, temps lowered so much, I'm surprised

70-80c is fine for the 290, if its around 95 or more i would recommend applying new paste

I was getting 94 degree using unreal engine 4, In general applying new paste will help with heat distribution from gpu to heatsink I would say more than 20%

it will probally drop like 10c
