Hi everyone, this is my first time building a PC and everything is pretty much set up except for my new graphics card. My PSU is at 850w and should be able to handle my 2080. I had a difficult time searching for an 8-pin male to 8-pin male online, but eventually found a dual connector and ordered them. I do have two 8 to 6 pin PCI express connectors on hand though. The Msi RTX 2080 has two 8 pin slots. Should I just wait for the cables or try installing the two 8-6 pin?

You need both 8-pin connectors plugged in for the card to work. If you plug a 6-pin into an 8-pin slot you'll just get an error telling you to shutdown and attached the pci-e cables. That PSU never came with just 6-pin connectors it came with 6+2 pin connectors, so either those are not the original cables or someone removed the 2 pin part need for 8-pin ports.

Your options
  1. Get replacement cables(cables MUST be for that PSU you can just use cables from another model). There are places that sell custom cables, cablemod being one of the most popular.
  2. Buy a new PSU

The cables you have aren't going to work and adapters are just a bad idea.
