Ok so here's my list of parts I entered:

Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX (ATX)
I7 14700k
Nvme WD 2TB x1
Corsair Vengeance 16gb x2 6000mhz CL 30 DDR5
RTX 4090 (want the 5090 so put this in)

For these pieces MSI says I need 1014 watts, I also need to add a valkyrie syn 360 cooler.

How accurate are these readings?

What PSU size would you guys recommend seeing as google says the 5090 will use 150 watts more than the 4090?

Thanks

I've seen nothing about the 5090 you got to wait on some reviews.

When the 4090 first came out they were recommending 1000 watts and 1200 just to be safe so that is likely still valid.

The 4090 will take 450 watts and a 13700k will spike to 253...assuming you don't overclock it which is not recommended anymore for intel cpu. This is only 700 watts and the rest of the stuff together is likely well under 100 watts. So even with 1000 you have quite a bit of room for strange power spikes that video cards are known to do.

If the 5090 takes too much power they will quickly get to the point that you are going to have run a special power outlet in many homes in the USA. I suspect a 5090 will be ok with a 1200 watt supply also.

It really doesn't matter unless you plan to pay the scalper prices. The reviews will have all the data out well before anyone can get a 5090 anywhere near MSRP. I suspect it will be at least next summer or fall before you can even think to get a 5090 for even close to list price. By this time someone will have actually tested and measured the amount of total power you need.
