So here's my problem, couple of days ago I turned my PC on and it gave me an error message.

"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might have caused the issue hit enter to restart"

upon hitting enter nothing happened so i took out my boot drive and formatted (wiped clean not re installed windows) it using another computer, and it occurred to me that perhaps the keyboard driver wasn't present. I now have a keyboard that is plugged into ps/2 connector and it seems to be working...

When I boot now I have no option to go into bios. tried restarting a bunch of times with nothing happening when i press f8, del, tab, f2, f11..... nothing seems to work.

I now have a message on my screen saying NTLDR is missing press cntrl+Alt+Del

when i press those keys it just bring me right back to the same screen as the bios isn't present.

Upon going to MSI website and downloading the correct M-Flash boot file I cannot change the boot order to get it to boot from the usb (if that's what your supposed to do)

I am completely stuck with this and have no idea what to do so any information would be greatly appreciated.

if it helps I think this may have been caused by removing a usb stick as the machine was shutting down. Stupid move. I now know.

Would I need to take the boot drive (an m4 240gb SSD) out and put it in a caddy install windows again using another computer and then boot up and install the msi M-flash bios update file through windows?

completely unsure. Many thanks in advance to anyone who replies. Greatly appreciated.

it posts and I can see the msi bios screen for the 2 seconds before it tries to boot but doesnt seem to respond to me pressing delete or tab thanks very much

now it says reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key

If it posts OK there's something wrong with Windows.

Reconnect the OS drive and boot into Safe Mode (F8 - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-au/windows/advanced-startup-options-including-safe-mode#1TC=windows-7) and try a Computer Repair. If that dooesn't work, try a Last Know God Configuration (System Restore). If that doesn't work, re-install Windows.

thats the thing im trying to reinstall but it wont let me change the boot order in the bios so i cant even boot from disc, i took the boot drive out put it in a caddy and im trying to install windows that way. biggest pain in the ass ever dont know wtf ive done tbh
