I prefer visuals of x870 but logic says that b850 is better value.

X870 = 250 euros
B850 = 200 euros

Any recommendations/user experience of either one?

Build: 9800x3d &9070xt. I mostly care about built quality/thermals/noise
Thank you

If the options are the two listed above, then I'd go with the MSI board as ASRock have had that issue with their BIOS whereby they ruined 9000 series processors.

Instead of getting the Gaming Plus board,
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/vj...tx-am5-motherboard-mag-b850-tomahawk-max-wifi
is the MSI Tomahawk board accessible to you?
Available tomahawks for me:
MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK 190euro
MSI MAG X870E TOMAHAWK 390euro
MSI MAG X670E TOMAHAWK 290euro
MSI MAG X870 TOMAHAWK 310 euro

I mean, X670E does look attractive and was one of the frontrunners but I feel like it's an overkill, I am not a poweruser, OC might be minimal (and 1st time ever for me) so just not sure if it's not too much

Is this;
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MPG-B850-EDGE-TI-WIFI
the board you're looking at? If so, I'd pick that.

Then again you're contradicting yourself with this line;
I am not a poweruser
What is the purpose of this build? What are you looking for in your motherboard purchase? If you're not a power user, you don't need to look at the X series chipsets. You could also downgrade your processor...depending on your answer.

Appreciate the help and sorry for contradictions. I want the "newest tech and future-proofing", but not interested in much OC or better gear than 9800.

The B850 EDGE is the same. Price 280 euro currently.
I am looking at "X's because I want PCIE5s.. usb4 is nice, but don't care about wifi7

So I assume then that
MPG B850 EDGE TI for 280 would be a recommended option over
ASRock X870 Steel Legend for 260 ?
Build quality and thermals are superior?

Finally choosing between
MSI X870GAMING PLUS (240 euro) > higher end, cheaper
vs
MSI MPG B850 EDGE TI (280 euro) > newer, supposedly better VRM quality

Any thought anyone?
