Hey all,
I built my first PC last night and to my surprise, everything seemed to work! Everything lit up and the fans were spinning and I was so excited as I thought I did it on the first attempt! But…
My PC won’t boot with my new ram in channel “A”. I originally bought 32gb (3600hz) of G.skill trident Z ram, but the PC wouldn’t post at all no matter what slot I put the ram in. My old crappy ram from my old prebuilt PC started up and posted to bios in the b2 slot. So, I ended up returning the ram to newegg and picking up some new Vengeance LPX ram (32gb/3600hz) at Bestbuy thinking it was just bad ram. Then I got home and the PC still wouldn’t post. I then read that I should boost the ram speed to 3600hz and try again, so I put my old stick in, put the ram to 3600hz, put my new ram into the b2 slot, and boom! It posted to the bios!
Now, here’s the main issue. The “a” channel just won’t work. When I put my ram in the “a” channel, my MSI ez debug light blinks white from “dram” and “cpu”. In both a1 and a2 channels. The ram DOES work in both b1 and b2 channels. I tried each channel separately, and in combination with both sticks, and only channel “b” works. I can put both sticks beside each other in the “b” channel but I want to dual channel as I have two sticks.
Is this a bad motherboard issue? Is it a user error issue? Is there anyway I can fix this or try to fix it myself or do I need to take my whole PC apart and return my mobo to Amazon? Im really hoping there is a fix because I don’t want to wait another like week and take the PC apart.
Any help is appreciated.
