Hello everybody. This is my first post and I'm already desperate ;]
I really hope you can help me out.

I bought a Z87 MSI Mpower Max Ac for i7 4770K.
The machine powered up and proceeded to load UEFI. I turned it off and plugged in HDDs. And ... It wouldn't get up again - fans run just for a brief second and powered down.

So then I tried a million things, cleared CMOS, switched to the other UEFI, bought another set of RAM explicitly deemed compatible by MSI, run it with and without GPU, HDDs, outside the case - still nothing.

So I returned the mobo and the CPU to the store ad they sent it to be checked.

I got a brand new mobo AND CPU and ... it happened again. So i got it to an independent computer workshop and they checked the mobo, updated the bios and run it successfully with my ram and their PSU, but ... not with my i4770K.

Now i got a new mobo and processor yet again, and it's exactly the same thing.

I'm completely puzzled. Any ideas (hopefully)?

Thanks. I didn't bend any pins on either of the 3 CPUs - they wouldn't have given me a new one if i damaged a previous one. I also thought it might be the PSU, but it was tested in the workshop with their PSU and didn't run either, and the mobo did run with a different CPU.

First make sure you test your CPU with your motherboard+ memory, try @ that computer workshop, if its the power unit what I suggest is to look for a good PSU brand (Corsair, Seasonic, XFX)and check which motherboards supports. They usually have a compatibility list for most motherboards on their website.

The mobo did run with another CPU and didn't with my CPU on the same PSU (at the computer shop), same RAM in both cases, so I don't think it's my PSU, which btw is Corsair, or the RAM.

I know, that's why I am completely puzzled by this. If it happened one time i would say it's a faulty chipset, but 3 times in a row ... I don't know.

Is it possible that I'm doing something wrong here?
I can enter UEFI the first time, i do nothing in the UEFI and reboot. That's it. Am i supposed to do something the first time I run UEFI?

No, the thing is when I switch power on it works for a second, the fans start spinning and immediately stop. Nothing changes that. When i brought it to the computer workshop they managed to run another processor on the board. They updated bios (as it turns out it wasn't necessary - the bios on the board supported 4770K just fine since 4 versions back) and thought that would do the trick. But no, my processor wouldn't work.

I've just found this

"dead cpu's can be diagnosed by turning off the pc at the wall. turn on the monitor and wait for no signal. then hit the power on the pc as soon as you see the on screen message. if the monitor immediately goes into standby then the cpu is either dead or not getting power.
if the screen goes black but stays on then your cpu is likely fine its just not being read properly by the motherboard... you can try to clear out the cmos and reboot.
hopefully the pc will then come on if not then update the bios with the old cpu and then replace it with the new, and hope for the best. dont forget 1s you do manage to get it to boot, that you need to go into bios and load optomized defaults...." (HEXiT)

I know you have done already some things from ^above^

Yes, it's going to be a new MOBO and new CPU ... for the third time. Or fourth. What PSU would you recommend? I need something that could handle the i7, 4 HDDs and potentially 2 GPUs.
