MSI Z97-G43 anyone?

Solution
In general, MSI is known for poor Quality Control, which is why I won't touch them for client builds, see too many arrive DOA or have components go bad within a month or two. If you get a good one, they are pretty good, as a builder I don't like taking chances and having to RMA and rebuild. I stick with Asus, the Rock, and GB.....their mobos are much more dependable from the Quality Control end

i was on the verge of order that particular MSI board but i trust you and will cancel it right away, thanks for the warning. Any other motherboard suggestion in the 130USD price range. Haven't even thought about Gigabyte btw.

I'm very thankful that you warned me about MSI, Have they always been known for bad quality control? I hear alot of people mentioning how good their Krait edition of motherboards look and how easy their UEFI is to come to grips with. Maybe one should take this praise with a grain of salt then.

I started noting it around 2009 when their sales started dropping, they were #3 in overall sales at the time, in 2010 or so ASRock passed them for #3, then in early 2011 after the release of the P67 mobos and subsequent recall, when the revised P67s were released, a number of the MSI models had overly tight DRAM sockets which caused rigs to go into endless boot loops, even though it was a well known problem, (I ran into a number of them) when you called MSI, they would say they never heard of the issue, but were rather quick to issue a RMA, sales continued to drop, and more problems arose. They did about the same with some Z87 models and their Killer NICs needing a BIOS update after release. But generally if there is a problem with a line or model of a mobo it a central problem, with MSI you see bad PCI slots, bad USB ports, ethernet ports, DRAM slots/channel problems, etc. Need to invest a little more on their QC inspections on the production lines

Interesting, i who always thought that Asrock (btw wasn't that a Company a part of Asus once?) and Gigabyte was at the bottom of the "trust-list". i've searched the web all day for a reliable motherboard that fits my budget and thought MSI Z97-G43 was the answer. i'm glad i managed to cancel that order before it was too late .)

The Rock originated as a Asus company making lower end mobos, then split away and started to really come into their own, GB has long been the #2 maker of mobos, behind Asus. The Rock is a distant 3rd, but shows gains yearly and MSI continues to fall behind the Rock

The first PC i bought myself was based around a Asrock motherboard. The cool thing back then was that the mobo had an PCI-E slot which i plugged a "beefy" Palit Geforce 6600GT (128mb) into.

I've used a lot of them over the years, picked up their Z77 Extreme 4 to test when I got a 3570K for beta testing and never changed, turned out to be the best selling and highest rated Z77 out there, also used their P67 Fatal1ty for my previous 2500K rig

Maybe i'll pick up a Asrock motherboard in the future then, for now i've finally come to the conclution that Asus Z97-AR is my best bet. Whatever i choose it'll be a revelation though since i'm upgrading from a Asus P5Q-E (LGA775). I'm especially looking forward to this "Click Bios" that all the kids are talking about .)

So do you think a Corsair VX450 (450W) will be able to power all this, alot of people have told me it will but i'm unsure? I'll disable C-state in the BIOS of course. If not maybe a cheap "Cooler Master GM 550W 80plus bronze" will?

I works fine in my current rig though...with a VX450. the Cooler Master GM 550W 80plus bronze is on sale for about 47USD, would that work you think?
