Hello I'm considering upgrading an aging computer system and was looking at dual and quad core processors. The AMD dual core is rated at 65 watts is that for both cores or for just one, I guess the question I'm asking is is the wattage that listed for the entire processor or just one individual core.
May sound like a silly question but I really wasen't sure. Thanks

If you want a quad core get a quad core yes the unlocking method works but only maybe 50% of the time so dont get an x3 and expect it to unlock. It is true a good bit of apps only use one thread but more and more are using multicores to there fullest. IMO in todays market a quad core should be the only processors you are looking at.

Say would you happen to know if the bios on the ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO AM3 mother board I just bought has a core unlocker. I know it has bios support for overclocking but I'm wondering if it the bios also supports the ability to unlock multiple cores. And why do they lock them anyway just to get you to spend more money. I was thinking they just set them all up on the die for four and just lock the less expensive processors?? Thanks

Guys just got a 20 dollar gift certificate from Newegg for a positive review I just wrote concerning their customer service. Also just received the Asus M4A785TD-V EVO motherboard and it says it does have a core unlocker along with a bunch of other neat stuff. But with the extra bucks I'm now thinking about the AMD Phenom II X4 925 Deneb 2.8GHz should be able to pick it up for just a little over a 100 bucks now, think that would be a good match with my board and 500 watt power supply thinking I might just take the leap and go for a quad core plan on doing some work with neuro networks.
Thanks!!
