I was curious if such a thing exists at VZW, maybe in some odd "special
projects" or commercial accounts department.... For temporary
installations, say at a fairgrounds or public event.... A box that has a
5220 AirCard in it, and then allows that connection to be shared to a
handful of PC clients wired to it? (yeah, I know it would be slow) I know
one could accomplish this with a laptop and Windows ICS, but I was wondering
if VZW had more "industrial strength" equipment that may support higher
transmission rates....

Does VZW have any special billing arrangement that would allow one to turn
the account on and off as needed, so as not to incur a $79/mo charge during
periods of non-use, i.e., the equipment is sitting idle at a warehouse
between events?

Reason I ask is I've seen a company offer such a service (computer rentals
with cellular data connections), but I can't imagine they are paying $79/mo
every month, per device, for something that would be used not very often.

Thanks.

You need to read more of this forum. Verizon's billing system is probably
plagued with more mistakes and problems then any other company I deal with.
All billing errors and mistakes are in the companies favor (the code is
actually written this way) so when the system does make those non-mistake
mistake errors Verizon may actually get some free money out of it. You're
asking if Verizon would have such a thing where you would only spend money
on the amount of time you used the service or connection? Hell no. With
Verizon you would definately need to pay the entire fee for that service and
never offered any kind of deals or benefits to keep you as a customer. No
one will ever bend over backwards for you at this company...and to be honest
most people on this group don't care if Verizon does or not. They're happy
with paying whatever their billed for...as long as they can make the calls.
